Growing, Not Grown by Gaia

Through the canal

The flames kissed my body

I was born, back into your arms

To light

Through pain

And back again

You didn’t know

Or maybe you did

What this life held in store

What your child would endure

The sacrifice

The blood of another mans

Wounds

Red on the white of her

Innocence

And if you knew, I forgive you

And if you didn’t, I still do

For I’ve come here to dig

Dig

Dig

And burrow

Into the unknown

Until I am it

Until I am you

And him

And red

Wearing your wounds

Inchoate

Never knowing, always leaning

How to emerge again from

Flames

Through pain

To light

and back again

“I trashed this because it felt more like a reminder for myself to forgive my family for any mistakes they made while they were raising me, because if I was in their position I don’t know if my choices would be any different.”
