Angel by Oliver Kleyer

Maybe later in life, we

can laugh about how deeply

in love we were back then,

topsy-turvy and beyond,

so that my love poems for you

were all it needed to

carry us up and down

the staircase.

I am still not angry at you

for giving me

an autograph with

a false name

as long as you

visit me soon in

my exile at the

Castle of Elsinore.

“I submitted this two or three times, until I received feedback for it. On the one hand, I could relate to the suggestions that were made. On the other hand, I just couldn’t find the right starting point for revision.”

Oliver Kleyer is a full time teacher and part time poet from Northern Germany. He writes in English and German. His works can be found in Das zerbrochene Wort, The creative zine, KCB the mag (forthcoming) and anthologies.
